Assignment 1: Poem Illustration

This assignment required us to choose or create a poem that represent ourselves, our thinking, our feelings, our life philosophy and etc. Then we need to make a poster design to present the information in the poem. We had to express it by using symbols and metaphors.

The first thing I start to do for this assignment is to search for poems on the internet. I had done the searching and came up with a few poems that could represent myself.

Here is the list of poem that I found could represent myself:

1. "The Will To Win" by Berton Braley
2. "A Creed To Live By" by unknown author
3. "A Day To My Own" by Lady Moore-Sabb
4. "Relax" by Robert William Service
5. "Relax - let go, relax - let go" by Trixie Asirvatham

The poem that I decided to choose is "A Day To My Own" by Lady Moore-Sabb.

A Day To My Own by Lady Moore-Sabb
Created on: August 01, 2007

There are times when all's too much. I feel I need a break.
If I could give myself a rest, here's the time I'd take.
I simply need a measly day that I can call my own.
A day to do just what I want, a day to rest my bones.

Just one day to have the source to do the things I please.
A day to just fulfill my wants and put aside my needs.
A day when I don't have to do the things that burden me.
A day when I don't have to have responsibilities.

A day for me to take a break from all my trial and woes.
A day for me to spread my wings and just get up and go.
A day that simply does not count, a when I'm in charge.
A day that on one else will miss and I can just live large.

A day for me to treat myself to what I want to do.
A day for me to just be free and to myself be true.
A day for me to spoil myself and fulfill my desire.
A day that won't be counted as a ticket to hells' fire.

I simply need a measly day to sit upon my throne.
Just one simple measly day that I can call my own.
